The Gender and Sexuality Studies major is dedicated to the study of women, gender, and sexuality in their complex articulation with race, ethnicity, class, religion, and nationality. By emphasizing a rigorous interdisciplinary perspective in their teaching and research, faculty seek to produce new knowledge about the social meanings of gender, race, class, and sexuality, and to equip students with a range of analytical and methodological skills.

Our faculty have worked extensively in Feminist Transnational Studies and are recognized as such in academic and scholarly circles.

Taking classes with leading scholars in the field, students learn how feminist transnational analysis can be used to study many compelling phenomena, including histories of identity production, body politics, religion and gender, the politics of fashion, remote intimacy through technology, environmental politics, and sexual rights.
